After university, I required a job to support my living accommodations and other monthly outgoings and Carphone Warehouse offered me a temporary job over Christmas. As I have experience in the company, I fit right back into the regular store life and only had to adapt to a few minor changes since leaving the company in 2012. In my brief time here, I achieved an award of "Apple Sales Professional 2014" (an achievement I had previously obtained in 2012).

Student Warden September 2012 - July 2014

My position requires me to work on-call from 5pm through the night until 9am to deal with issues from students within the block of flats that I reside. These include lock-outs, check-ins, fire alarms, electrical failures and noise complaints. I also deal with queries that the accommodation managers aren't present to answer, including dealing with basic maintenance within the building. The position requires me to be prompt and present to deal with potentially major issues, such as fire alarms or trespassing on the premises. When communicating with students, I must be clear (especially if there is a language barrier to overcome), polite and courteous.


CEO and Founder January 2012 - June 2012, and January 2015 - Present

TapHub was a technology blog based around finding the latest technology and gaming news and reporting it promptly and efficiently. The blog also wrote its own original reviews of products, and guides or helpful hints/tips related to tech or gaming. I founded the site at the start of 2012 with the end goal of earning revenue from the project and being renowned within the tech-news industry. Within the first month, the site earned 12,000 hits, with some big stories being reported by other tech blogs such as RazorianFly and Gizmodo. The peak hits in a month was during March where we obtained roughly 18,500 and subsequently got a lot of traffic on the related YouTube channel where the video reviews were uploaded to. The project was disbanded in June 2012 due to a lack of funds to keep the hosting active (due to me setting it up in my first year of university, I also didn't have enough time to keep up with regular articles whilst still obtaining high grades.) As of January 2015, I am currently planning on a rebirth of TapHub predominately based on technology review write-ups and videos.

Carphone Warehouse

Customer Consultant June 2010 - February 2012

I worked face-to-face with customers looking in the market for a new mobile phone, computer or tablet, and find out which additional services would best suit them. To accomplish this, I was trained to give impartial advice on the various brands and models available, and ask the customer questions to determine whether they would be better suited to a contract (pay monthly) or a standalone device.

The end goal was to feel confident enough to let the customer leave the store with a greater knowledge of their new device and a complete understanding of their associated contract. This meant adapting my conversational style depending on the individual, taking into account their age, knowledge of tech and budget.

The company also had many additional services that I could sell, including 'MyHub', a free, online backup service for their mobile phone; 'Music Anywhere', an annual-subscription service similar to Google Music where the customer could upload their music library to the cloud; and 'Geek Squad', a combination insurance and tech support service which was paid for monthly by the customer, or could be requested as a one-off payment.

During my time in the company, I confidently achieved:

Gamestation (GAME Group)

Sales November 2008 - May 2010

I dealt with weekly stock deliveries, where I would have to check them onto our stock systems and make sure the deliveries were correct. I would then need to "gut" the products and keep the discs and manuals stored alphabetically behind the counter, and price the game's box up and position it on the shop floor in its correct position, in alphabetical order. I would then have to sell games to customers. At the end of the day, I was required to face-up the shop floor and ensure a clean environment.
